Wednesday, August 30, 2006 Few days back Michael & I went online to apply for the balloting exercise for a 5-room flat in Bukit Merah. I doubt we would stand a chance, given that only 58 units are available with more than 200 applicants. Anyway, it only cost us $10 to apply online, so we "tikam tikam" and just try our luck.I do not know when we would be getting married though we have talked about settling down in the not too long future. Whatever it is, I sure hope I will be making the right choice.....don't want to repeat the mistake again of applying for a flat (in my early 20's) under the Fiance/Fiancee scheme and had to pay a bl**dy $5,000 as forfeit cuz things didn't work out between me and my then boyfriend. But now that there's no Fiance/Fiancee scheme so it's not that bad. I really really need to get a higher paying job if I want to settle down soon. Felt totally lousy about myself, lamenting why I didn't save up the last few years. Could have at least saved up some good 5-figure sum especially during my "One Live, Life It" days! But the 'good' part of me is encouraging me to look forward rather than dwell in the past & sink into depression of regrets. So my goal now is to save & shrimp and to actively seek new job opportunities. Monday, August 14, 2006 Let's do a quick update on what's happening around me this past weeks:1. Got myself a new N73 handphone. A good phone with quite a power-packed features including a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens. The photos taken are so clear I can even see my pimples. Anyway, I only paid about 1/3 for it (it's a long story...) 2. Was 'appointed' the photographer for my company to take photos (passport sized kind) of all the staff and Term Contractors, in preparation for the IMF/Worldbank event, for submission to the police & ISA for badging exercise. Total I had taken more than 300 pics. Can consider turning pro already as complimented by some of my colleagues, haha. 3. One of Michael's uncle (his mom older sis's husband) passed away early Sunday morning. To think we visited him only the day before. We knew it was just a matter of time but I guess when death comes, no one is prepared. He had stomach cancer. 4. My sis gave birth to a healthy baby girl today. Approximately, 3.30pm SIN time (9.30am France time). Think my sis is considered very lucky that her pregancy went smoothly, no swollen feet, no breakouts & heartburn. And she has only piled 12kg max. The time she was admitted to the hospital till giving birth (do they call it the contraction period?) was only about 8 hours. To think my mom said when she gave birth to my brother, she was in labour for more than 10hours! No wonder, they all say Mom's the greatest! Shi Shang Zhi You Mama Hao.
