Tuesday, September 26, 2006 September has been a pretty good month for me so far.1. I passed my Advance Theory test (yipee!). I was so kan-cheong especially when waiting for the results to be shown on the screen. I don't think I was so anxious for my 'O' levels or other exams! 2. I got a 17% pay raise wef Oct paycheck due to my good work performance (double yipee!). It's a blessing in disguise. Cuz I was offered a job elsewhere & my boss subsequently told my GM. And they decided to counter-offer (though slightly lesses than the job offer) in view of my good work performance. hehee....anyway, I also won't resign yet unless the new job offers me 50% pay increase...if not I'll lose out on the bonus. 3. Michael & I went to register for our ROM date. Yep, we're getting engaged on 9 Dec, exactly 8mths of our "versary". Went to buy our wedding bands from Soo Kee & Mic also got me a solitare as a proposal ring (though he didn't quite propose). So unromantic! hahaa. Friends & family asks me why so soon (some thought shotgun! pls lor!!). But I think once you know you're ready & that your partner is the one, there's no such thing as so soon or late. For I know I can spend the rest of my life with this man (ya, i know very mushy...hehee). Saturday, September 16, 2006 During this IMF/WB period, Suntec City is the safest yet can also be the most dangerous place to be.Safest cuz there're so many policemen, Gurkhas, etc within the mall, around the convention ctr and so on. Dangerous cuz protests may turn ugly or even threats of terrorism may be possible too. With all the fences erected around the venue, the place looks like some concentration camp (no joke!) but just that the colourful flowers, plants, potted beds make the place looks nicer. Around Marina Bay area & town, flowers of different sorts have been planted by NParks....so nice but think after the IMF/WB, all these greeneries will be gone. But anyway, so far so good...no bloody protests or bomb scare, hehee. And luckily for me, I can still take the shuttle bus to work, albeit waking up earlier to reach Cityhall MRT to catch the bus. And because of road closures & diversions, traffic somehow seem smoother around Marina Bay area than usual. Though Suntec mall is pretty quiet during this period, that doesn't mean complaints get lesser. And some people just don't get it....it doesn't mean Suntec is the venue for the event, means we are responsible for everything and the inconvenience caused (i.e. road closures, longer walking route to Suntec, etc). We are not even the organiser!! For Christ's sake.... Too many morons out there.....haha! Anyway, one good thing is coming out from this......and I can't wait for Oct! So stay tune. Friday, September 08, 2006 Suntec is becoming to look like a fortress now that the IMF/World Bank event is in 2 days' time. Many new security cameras have been installed and policemen, undercover cops, etc are patrolling the place. Some access have been closed and cordoned off. In the coming days till 20 Sep, the whole place especially the convention centre and front of Suntec will be in a high-security zone. Coming to work next week till the end of the event is going to be a hassle with road closures and detours. From a 15mins walk from the MRT station to my office now has to take about 25mins. Have to wake up earlier than usual.....*sigh* Already everyday also not enough sleep, now has to wake up earlier...aiyo. |
